Product Description
The Heatmiser PRT-TS WiFi is our 230v WiFi Enabled Programmable Touchscreen Thermostat, ideal for conventional or combi-boiler systems. This thermostat is hard wired to the boiler, requiring at least 3 wires.
Control your heating from any web browser or our iPhone app.
Questions:
Q: What are the wiring requirements of this thermostat.
A: It requires 230v (L,N) to power the thermostat, and then it offers a volt free changeover contact for the heating circuit. In simple terms, if your existing thermostat has three wires, excluding the earth - you can upgrade.
Q: I already have a Heatmiser PRT/PRT-TS installed and would like to upgrade to this model, is that possible?
A: Yes, you can upgrade to this model.
Q: Do I need anything else to control my heating from the web or iPhone app?
A: You will need a WiFi router with port forwarding facility (most do) and if you don't have a fixed IP from your internet supplier, you will need to use a service called DynDNS. Don't worry - although we can't offer support on individual routers, we can certainly point you in the right direction.
Q: Where do I get the iPhone app, and how much does it cost?
A: You get this from the AppStore from your iPhone. It is a free app.
Q: Are you designing an Android app.
Q: I want to control multiple WiFi Thermostats from the web or iPhone, is it possible.
A: You can control multiple WiFi Thermostats within your home, by entering the individual IP address for each thermostat, however remote access to multiple thermostats isn't possible at this time.
Q: Will it be possible to control multiple WiFi Thermostats via the web/iPhone in the future?
A: Yes, we are working on this now - and hope to have an interface module available early in 2012.

Works well, let down by documentation
By Limeymancad
I have had one of these installed for the last 6 months and I have to say it works well. Always connects either via the web interface or via the iPhone app in local or remote mode. There are a couple of things to note:1: The local port forwards to port 80 and the iPhone app talks over 8068, shame it could not be set up as something else but never mind.2: The shipped documentation is a bit behind the what is now shipped. It refers to a CD etc, but this is now on their web page.3: Emailing the technical support works well I got a response back to each and every email and was never put on hold when I phoned.4: You need to know how port forwarding works. For sure if you can't connect the problem is here. Typically messing up the port number for the iPhone app.5: The thermostat mounting is a not the best. You have to remove the front panel from the back, which is not for the faint heart and you need to mount the back on a deep embedded back box.6: As far as I can tell all modern wifi security methods are supported, I run mine via a netgear router type N on WPA2.7: The little app you download to configure the thermostat is basic but functional. The thermostat appears a storage device (like a USB flash disk) and the app writes the network config to it.8: You will need and a supply (L, N, E), although the earth is more for the bonding to the back box. Also you are presented with a volt free contact (switch side of a relay) which you may connect to your boiler to control it.9: Once you have it set up and installed make sure you have the latest manual from the website, the shipped one I had was missing details about the 'extra features'. These need to be turned on via the thermostat itself and they then appear on the iPhone app as increase functionality. As a default it is just a simple on of timer for week days. In enhanced mode you can set two ON periods for each individual day. A 24hr 7 day week timer.10: It's not to be confused with a wireless thermostat. This connects directly to your boiler but needs to be located when it can 'read' the temperature you wish to regulate. As such it's ideal for a thermostat replacement where you have one fixed to the wall (though check you have a supply also). It is a fixed location thermostat that you can access via your wifi.11: They make a remote switching module (which connects to the boiler) if you don't want to run the switching pair half way across your house. Though you still need to provide 230VAC to the thermostat itself where ever you locate it. You talk to the thermostat via wifi from your iPhone or browser and the thermostat then talks to the remote unit (via RF) and controls the boiler.12: The manual lacks and overall connectivity diagram which would be handy to have on the first page as once you finally worked it all out it's quite simple.

Decent Thermostat with poor software support and lots of setup
By Mark Thorpe
This thermostat is a normal 7 day programmable heating thermostat with the added bonus of being remotely controllable via the web or smartphone app.The physical installation is easy enough - it's made to fit into a standard sunk 35mm backplate. Due to my ropey walls I have mine mounted on a backplate that's on the wall rather than sunk in and it doesn't look too bad.INSTALLWiring was easy enough. Only extra needed for mine were the Live and Neutral and the other 2 to the boiler connected straight into the C/NO terminals.FEATURESThe unit has a 7 day programmable memory for Wake/Leave/Return/Sleep with separate settings for the weekend. Apparently the unit learns how long the heating takes to heat to the specific temperature and adjusts turn on appropriately so that the target temperature is reached at the required time. Time will tell on this as I have only just installed. There's a holiday function where you simply tell the unit when you are due to return and it will go into frost protection mode for the duration. There are arrows on the display for temperature override. This will override the programmed temperature with a temperature you set until the next program time takes over again. There's also a temperature hold function to set a specific temperature for a specified amount of time that will override any program. You can also turn the thermostat off which will engage the frost protection mode - or, of course, off altogether. There's also a handy screen clean function that will lock the screen while it is cleaned. You can lock the keypad so that it cannot be messed with. Now for the 3 star part:The unit only shows current temperature on the main screen. You have to press the arrows to see what the target temperature is set to. Hate that a lot.The blue light is not even and flickers when on. Not a big deal but this was £130.The display seems very delicate. Any slight pressure on the surround drives it a bit barmy. The unit has to be setup on your Wifi network to function correctly. This initially involves plugging the unit into a PC and running the downloadable wifi setup program. The procedure from then is ridiculous and laborious. You have to setup services and forward specific ports on your network and set a specific IP address for the unit itself which has to be outside the router's DHCP server range. It also needs DNS config etc. You have to manually specify the SSID of the router and also enter a username/password/pincode for remote access. This procedure has got to be made much more user friendly. I know my way around a network and it was a pain in the rear so who knows how someone with little or no knowledge would get on. I expect to plug something in and have it autoconfigure as much as possible for this price. You should select a prescanned SSID and the unit would do most of the rest of the setup. The Ipad/Android apps are very basic. They allow you to change all of the relevant settings easily enough but there's no temperature history logging and the apps look old and outdated. The apps and web interface also intermittently cannot connect to the unit even though it's all setup on the network and it worked 5 minutes ago. Nightmare. The web app is woeful. Again you can change all of the relevant settings but it looks like it was written on a ZX81. Again - No temperature history. Unforgivable. Apparently the apps/web are being updated. I'd love to see something real polished for this. All in all not bad but not worth £130. If it was £70 then fair enough. It does what most £40-£50 thermostats do with a little Wifi thrown in.With all that said - If the apps/web/connectivity issues are sorted then I will be a happy chappy.

Excellent product, but not exactly plug and play
By Sebastian Flyte
This product works very well, allowing remote control of the heating system from a PC or a smartphone, with a simple way of programming and switching on/off.I find some of the other reviews quite baffling. The set up isn't exactly for the faint-hearted as you need to combine creating services and setting port forwarding on a router with mounting the box and connecting to the central heating system. The documentation needs to be read very carefully. But once the installation is achieved it's a great product and does exactly what it's meant to do.UPDATEIt's been installed for a few weeks now and it works just fine - clock is accurate and it's very easy to control.
